Ethiopian Airlines CEO Describes Keyamo’s AfDB Appointment as Visionary Leadership Recognition

In Addis Ababa, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, has extended warm congratulations to Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, following his appointment by the African Development Bank as Champion of the $7 billion Integrated Aviation Transformation Programme for Africa.

In a personally signed message, Tasew described the appointment as a strong endorsement of Keyamo’s “visionary leadership” and his commitment to strengthening aviation across the continent.

He said the confidence placed in the Nigerian minister reflects Africa’s shared ambition to modernise its aviation ecosystem and unlock long-term investment and growth.

The Ethiopian Airlines chief, whose carrier remains Africa’s largest and one of its most influential aviation groups, stressed that the initiative comes at a crucial moment for the continent, where aviation is increasingly seen as a key driver of trade, tourism, and regional integration.

He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to supporting efforts that deepen connectivity and cooperation across African skies.

Tasew further expressed confidence that under Keyamo’s stewardship, the programme would open new opportunities for African airlines, airports, and investors, while strengthening strategic partnerships across the sector. The message, coming from Ethiopian Airlines, underscores growing continental backing for Nigeria’s role in shaping the future of African aviation.
