The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), providing candidates across the country access to their academic performance.
The examination body also announced that re-sit examinations for candidates seeking to improve their grades will be conducted on July 22 and July 23, 2026.
In a statement, NECO advised candidates to check their results through the council’s official portal using their registration details. Schools and examination centres were also directed to obtain official result sheets from designated NECO offices for proper documentation and record keeping.
The council explained that the BECE remains a crucial assessment for students completing junior secondary education, serving as a gateway to senior secondary school placement. Education stakeholders have praised the timely release of the results, describing it as a positive step towards improving efficiency within the examination system.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to support candidates who may choose to participate in the re-sit examination, especially those seeking better grades for admission and placement purposes.
Education experts noted that prompt result processing helps schools plan academic activities more effectively and reduces uncertainty for students transitioning into the next phase of their education.
The council reiterated its commitment to maintaining credible examination standards and ensuring transparency in the conduct and release of public examination results. It also urged candidates to follow official channels when accessing their results to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
With preparations already underway for the re-sit examinations, NECO assured stakeholders that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and hitch-free process across examination centres nationwide.
