Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has disclosed that she recently underwent major surgery, assuring fans that she is recovering and will return soon.
The award-winning singer made the revelation through a post on her Instagram Story on Thursday, where she apologised for her reduced presence on social media and explained that her recovery process had been more challenging than anticipated.
Addressing her fanbase, popularly known as “Mobstarrs,” Ayra Starr said she initially expected a quick recovery but encountered complications following the procedure.
“Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery, but it was more complicated than they expected,” she wrote.
The singer, however, reassured supporters that she was gradually recuperating and only needed additional rest before resuming her activities.
“I just need a bit of rest, and I’ll be back!!! Starrgirl is coming so soooon. I need everyone out there spreading the word, tell your friends, your family, your neighbours!!! Order Starrgirl ASAP!!! Love you guys,” she added.
The announcement immediately sparked reactions from fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry, many of whom flooded social media with messages of support and prayers for her recovery.
In a separate Instagram update, the singer continued promotional activities for her forthcoming project, encouraging fans to pre-order copies while revealing that she had personally signed special editions of her first vinyl and CD inserts.
