Poco Lee Speaks After UK Bail Release

Nigerian dancer and entertainer Poco Lee has broken his silence following his release on bail in the United Kingdom, insisting that he remained calm throughout his time in custody because he knew he was innocent of the allegation against him.

Poco Lee spoke during a video call with social commentator VeryDarkMan, who shared footage of their conversation on social media on Sunday.

Reflecting on the experience, the entertainer said his biggest concern was not his own situation but the effect his absence could have on people who work closely with him. According to him, he was particularly worried about his associates and their ability to continue with their businesses while he was away.

“I was just being myself. God sees my heart. My only worries were about my people. Jago could not do anything business, and I didn’t want to stress anyone,” he said.

Poco Lee added that his knowledge of his innocence helped him remain mentally composed during the ordeal.

He explained that the situation would have been different if he had actually committed the alleged offence, saying he would have viewed his detention as a consequence of his actions. However, because he maintained that he had done nothing wrong, he said he had no reason to feel guilty.

“If I was inside there and I did what I was accused of, I would have felt I was paying for my sins, but since I knew I didn’t do what I was accused of, my mind is pure,” he stated.

The dancer also acknowledged the support he received from people close to him, particularly Nigerian singer Burna Boy. He said Burna Boy, Rahman Jago and other associates continued to stand by him despite the circumstances surrounding the case.

VeryDarkMan, who conducted the video call, also questioned some of the narratives that had emerged about Poco Lee’s situation while highlighting the support shown by Burna Boy and Jago.

In a caption accompanying the video, VeryDarkMan said he had spoken with Poco Lee and Rahman Jago and suggested that he expected further claims questioning the authenticity of the conversation.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings remain ongoing. Snaresbrook Crown Court has scheduled September 15 for plea and trial preparation.

The case followed Poco Lee’s trip to the UK for the Davido and Friends concert at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.

Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegation against him remains before the court for determination.
