A youth support group within the All Progressives Congress has announced plans to mobilise 20 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, with a nationwide grassroots campaign covering all 774 local government areas.
The Renewed Hope for Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative, RHYDEI, unveiled the mobilisation plan during its launch in Abuja, where it also announced plans to train 10,000 youth ambassadors to promote and explain the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration.
RHYDEI President, Abayomi Odediran, said the organisation would establish a presence across wards and communities nationwide as it works towards its stated electoral target.
“We shall take Renewed Hope to every ward in the 774 LGAs. From Sokoto to Bayelsa, from Borno to Lagos,” Odediran said.
The proposed youth ambassadors are expected to engage Nigerians in communities, markets and on social media platforms. Odediran said they would defend the administration’s record and communicate what the group considers its achievements.
The initiative also plans to combine political mobilisation with youth empowerment. According to Odediran, RHYDEI intends to work with Federal Government agencies to ensure that at least one million young Nigerians benefit from skills acquisition programmes, grants and loans before the 2027 election.
Odediran praised the administration’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy and argued that the policy had helped save government resources and stabilise the economy.
He also criticised individuals he alleged had sponsored an American law firm to campaign against Tinubu during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York. He said RHYDEI would defend the President both online and offline.
“This is a love movement. We are going to show Nigerians that Jagaban is loved at home,” Odediran said.
The group has Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, listed as its National Chairman. Its zonal leadership includes Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for the North-West, Raymond Asemakaha for the North-Central, Solid Minerals Development Minister Dele Alake for the South-West, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo for the South-South and House of Representatives member Kingsley Ezekwelu for the South-East.
Abbas and the five zonal chairmen were absent from the launch, with Odediran saying they were attending to other official engagements.
The event concluded with the inauguration of coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
RHYDEI’s 20 million-vote figure is a mobilisation target announced by the organisation, not an election result or an independent forecast of the 2027 outcome. The group joins other political organisations already beginning grassroots mobilisation ahead of the next general elections.
