NDC Plans UK Chapter Launch with Obi, Kwankwaso Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to formally launch its United Kingdom chapter as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development was disclosed by the party’s National Leader and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, during a meeting with members of the NDC UK chapter and representatives of the Nigerian community in London.

According to Dickson, the formal inauguration of the chapter will take place later this year and is expected to feature the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other senior party officials.

A statement issued by NDC-UK Publicity Secretary, Boniokoye Imegwu, said the meeting provided an opportunity for party members abroad to receive updates on developments within the organisation and ongoing preparations for the 2027 elections.

Dickson attended the meeting shortly after inaugurating the party’s chapter in the Netherlands, part of a broader strategy to expand the NDC’s international presence and strengthen connections with Nigerians living overseas.

Addressing participants, the former governor urged institutions responsible for the conduct of elections to uphold transparency, fairness and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He also expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and its readiness to participate in the next electoral cycle.

NDC-UK Country Chairman, Princewill Urum, reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to the party’s objectives and pledged continued support for its programmes and expansion efforts.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), who expressed support for initiatives aimed at promoting democratic participation and credible elections.

Party officials said the planned UK launch forms part of a wider effort to deepen engagement with Nigerians abroad and strengthen organisational structures ahead of the 2027 polls
