Former Police DIG Frank Mba Begins New Career, Opens Law Firm in Abuja

After 34 years of service in the Nigeria Police Force, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Frank Mba has embarked on a new professional journey with the official launch of his legal practice in Abuja.

The former police spokesman unveiled FRANK MBA LEGAL at its Wuse 2 office on Friday, October 9, 2026, in a ceremony that coincided with his birthday celebration.

The occasion attracted prominent personalities from government, law enforcement, business and religious circles, reflecting Mba’s extensive professional relationships built over more than three decades.

Among the dignitaries were Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, former Inspectors-General of Police Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and Usman Alkali Baba, and popular cleric Pastor Jerry Eze.

Businessman Emeka Offor, retired DIGs Sadiq Abubakar, Tijani Baba and Dan Kwara, alongside members of the National Assembly, also attended.

Serving Deputy Inspectors-General Ekene Onwuemeelie, Isiyaku Abubakar and Suleiman Mohammed were equally present.

Speaking during the unveiling, Mba explained that his transition into private legal practice was motivated by a desire to continue serving society beyond his policing career.

He described retirement as an opportunity to apply his experience in leadership, conflict resolution, law enforcement and justice administration to a different professional environment.

According to him, the new firm will prioritise protecting clients’ rights, resolving disputes and maintaining high standards of legal ethics and professionalism.

Mba emphasised that his years in public service had reinforced his belief in the importance of justice and public confidence in institutions.

His entry into legal practice follows his retirement in March 2026, bringing an end to a distinguished 34-year career in the police.

During that period, he served three separate tenures as Force Public Relations Officer, becoming widely recognised for his contributions to police communication and public engagement.

He also held several strategic positions, including Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Commissioner of Police and head of the Force’s Department of Training and Development.

Beyond his policing experience, Mba possesses extensive legal qualifications.

He earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos and graduated as an award winner from the Nigerian Law School before being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002.

He subsequently obtained a Master of Laws degree with distinction from the University of Dundee in Scotland.

His professional record also includes international peacekeeping service with the Nigerian Police contingent to the United Nations Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007, where he received the United Nations Medal.

With the establishment of FRANK MBA LEGAL, the former police chief now seeks to combine his legal expertise and extensive public service experience in a practice dedicated to justice, dispute resolution and professional integrity.
