The Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC) has announced an online verification exercise for eligible pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme, with the process scheduled to run from October 26 to November 25, 2026.
The exercise covers retired heads of service and permanent secretaries, as well as pensioners under the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and the Civil Service Pension Office.
LASPEC Director-General Babalola Obilana announced the exercise in a notice, urging affected pensioners to complete the process within the stipulated period. The commission said the verification was intended to update pensioners’ records and confirm their eligibility under the Defined Benefit Scheme, also known as the Pay-As-You-Go system.
The commission stated that the exercise would be conducted entirely online and advised pensioners not to visit its office to complete the process.
Retired heads of service and permanent secretaries are directed to use the portal at verify.laspec.gov.ng. Pensioners under TESCOM are to access verify.tescomlagos.ng, while those under the Civil Service Pension Office are required to use verify.cspo.ng.
According to the instructions, participants must begin by completing a two-step login validation using their Oracle number and surname. After accessing the portal, they should select the self-service option and use their device cameras to take photographs for identity confirmation.
Pensioners must also provide their Bank Verification Number (BVN) or National Identification Number (NIN), update their personal information and complete the next-of-kin details before submitting their records.
LASPEC has urged participants to ensure that the information provided is accurate and that all required sections are completed before submission. Pensioners are also advised to use the appropriate portal for their category to avoid verification difficulties.
The commission did not indicate in the supplied notice that pensioners must appear physically at its office. Instead, it emphasised online completion of the exercise before the November 25 deadline.
The verification is intended to help maintain accurate pension records and confirm the status of eligible beneficiaries under the state’s Defined Benefit Scheme.
