BREAKING!!!Marking a significant development in the leadership of the Enugu state’s security architecture, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of Commissioner of Police Fidelis Ogarabe as the new Commissioner of Police in Enugu State,
His deployment to Enugu is particularly noteworthy given his previous security assignment in the state, where he served as Chief Security Officer (CSO) to former Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi.
Following interviews conducted by the Police Service Commission to assess their professional competence, character and suitability for the responsibilities of their new offices, CP Ogarabe is among four senior police officers posted to different state commands.
Before his new posting, CP Ogarabe served as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Annex, Lagos. His previous experience in Enugu, coupled with his exposure to strategic policing and international law enforcement coordination, places him in a position to bring valuable institutional knowledge to his new assignment.
Confirming the postings at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall, PSC Headquarters, Abuja, the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, represented by Board Member, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC rtd), explained that the appointments were made in accordance with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The PSC Chairman disclosed that the four Commissioners of Police were found worthy in learning and character following the interviews conducted by the Commission.
He consequently charged them to remain impartial, demonstrate professionalism and live up to the expectations of their respective offices.
Apart from CP Fidelis Ogarabe’s deployment to Enugu State, the Commission also approved the following postings:
• CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor, fsi, PhD — Plateau State.
• CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko, mnips — Nasarawa State.
• CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola — Ondo State.
CP Fidelis Ogarabe return to Enugu, this time as the state’s Commissioner of Police, comes with expectations from residents and stakeholders who look forward to strengthened security operations, effective crime prevention, improved intelligence gathering and deeper collaboration between the police and other security agencies.
Having previously served within the state’s political and security environment as Chief Security Officer to former Governor Ugwuanyi, his familiarity with Enugu’s security landscape could provide useful institutional insight as he assumes his new responsibilities.
