Heavy Security Blocks Sowore Protest at Aso Villa

Heavy security presence around the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday prevented activist Omoyele Sowore and other protesters from accessing Aso Rock as they demanded the rescue of abducted schoolchildren.

The protest, organised under the #OccupyAsoRock campaign, was led by Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).

Security operatives barricaded routes leading to the Presidential Villa, forcing protesters to gather around the Federal High Court area.

Speaking during the demonstration, Sowore said the protest was intended to pressure the government into taking urgent action to rescue abducted children in Oyo and Borno states.

He maintained that the protest remained peaceful and warned that further actions could follow if the victims were not rescued promptly.
