The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a five-year-old girl abducted in Lagelu Local Government Area and arrested two suspects linked to the crime.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the police, the victim, Fikayo Gbemiga, was abducted from her residence on July 3, while the kidnappers allegedly demanded N10 million ransom from her family.
Ayanlade said operatives of the anti-kidnapping squad deployed intelligence and technological tools to track the suspects, leading to their arrest at a hideout in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan.
He identified the suspects as Seyi Adegboye and Adefemi Adegboye.
The police spokesman said the victim was rescued unharmed during the operation, adding that investigations revealed the suspects had earlier collected N1 million ransom before their arrest.
He noted that efforts were ongoing to recover the ransom and apprehend other members of the criminal network still at large.
