Residents of Kogi State have pledged to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in future elections, citing ongoing infrastructure projects and development initiatives that they say have improved living conditions across the state.
The commitment was made during a visit by members of the Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to inspect federal and state projects in Yagba West Local Government Area. Community leaders and government officials used the occasion to highlight the impact of investments in roads, healthcare facilities, schools and other public infrastructure.
Speaking during the tour, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr Joseph Oluwasegun, credited both the federal and state governments for bringing development to Egbe and neighbouring communities. He noted that Governor Ododo had undertaken the construction of 15 kilometres of internal roads in Egbe and appointed prominent officials from the area into his administration.
According to Oluwasegun, the governor’s engagement with the community has been unprecedented, pointing out that Ododo has visited Egbe twice since assuming office, a feat he described as unmatched in the area’s history.
“We are here to report that, for the first time in the history of Egbe, Governor Ododo has visited us twice and delivered roads, hospitals and schools,” he said, adding that residents intend to reciprocate what they consider meaningful development through their support at the polls.
The commissioner also linked the state government’s achievements to the policies of the Tinubu administration, arguing that increased federal allocations and the establishment of the North Central Development Commission had strengthened Kogi’s capacity to execute development projects.
Echoing similar sentiments, Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Ologun Tosin, praised the pace of work on the Egbe road network, saying the project had significantly improved mobility and enhanced safety for residents. He maintained that the people of the area would demonstrate their appreciation during future elections.
The Director-General of the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency, Engr. Bolaji Taye, defended the quality of the road projects, stating that although they were executed through direct labour to reduce costs, they were built to international standards.
Members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication, Sunday Dare, reiterated the federal government’s commitment to infrastructure development nationwide. Dare said the Tinubu administration remained focused on improving transportation and economic activity through the construction and rehabilitation of critical roads.
During an inspection of sections of the Kabba-Egbe-Omuaran Federal Highway, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, said the government recognised the importance of functional road networks to national development.
Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, also commended the federal government for intervening in the rehabilitation of the highway, which he said had previously deteriorated and disrupted movement in the area. The Renewed Hope Ambassadors are expected to continue their assessment of federal and state projects across Kogi State.
