Ronaldo Marries Longtime Partner Georgina Rodriguez in Private Portugal Ceremony

Cristiano Ronaldo has married Georgina Rodriguez, his partner of nearly a decade, in a private civil ceremony held in Cascais, a coastal resort town roughly 20 miles west of Lisbon. The couple confirmed the news themselves, sharing a photograph on Instagram showing off their wedding rings, with the ceremony attended by their five children.

The 41-year-old forward and Rodriguez have been together since 2016, after first meeting in Madrid, and have spent much of the intervening years sharing glimpses of their family life with fans on social media. Their wedding arrives at a notably busy moment in Ronaldo’s football calendar, coming just four days before his club, Al Nassr, kick off their 2026-27 Saudi Pro League campaign.

The timing also follows closely on the heels of a significant career milestone. Ronaldo recently featured in his sixth FIFA World Cup, matching a record previously held by Argentina captain Lionel Messi for most men’s tournament appearances. He has since confirmed that the 2026 tournament marked his final World Cup, even as he left the door open on his broader international future. “I’m sad to be leaving the World Cup like this,” he said. “I gave it my all. I did my best. It was my last World Cup, yes, but I’ll now have time to reflect and be with my family. I won’t be making any rash decisions.”

Ronaldo was careful to note that any decision about his national team future would come only after proper reflection rather than in the emotional aftermath of the tournament. “I don’t decide anything in the heat of the moment. Now is not important whether I will continue,” he said, before reflecting on the scale of what he’s achieved with Portugal over more than two decades. “I played 23 years in the national team and won three titles. Before Cristiano, Portugal had not won anything. The Euros was the most important. For me, 2016 has the same dimension as a World Cup, honestly.”

Across a career spanning Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr, and the Portugal national team, Ronaldo remains one of football’s most prolific scorers, with a goal tally approaching 1,000 across all competitions, a body of work that continues to grow even as this latest chapter of his personal life takes center stage.
