The member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has paid tribute to his parents, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and his wife, Asia, as they marked their 27th wedding anniversary.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page on Friday, the lawmaker described the occasion as a significant milestone worthy of celebration and reflection, praising his parents for the values, strength and commitment that have sustained their marriage over nearly three decades.
Mohammed particularly commended his mother, whom he described as the “glue” that holds the family together. He highlighted her compassion, intelligence and dedication to humanitarian causes, noting that her influence has shaped both his personal life and public service career.
Reflecting on his childhood, the lawmaker recalled how his mother played a major role in his upbringing and education, describing her as an avid reader and accomplished lawyer whose commitment to learning inspired those around her.
He also praised her efforts in supporting vulnerable members of society, especially widows and orphans, during the period when Nasir El-Rufai served as Governor of Kaduna State. According to him, her humanitarian activities extended beyond her immediate family and positively impacted many communities.
Mohammed further stated that many of the values guiding his representation of Kaduna North today were instilled in him by his mother from an early age.
“Every good thing we continue to do for Kaduna North is due to the teachings and knowledge she has imparted in me since I was 11 years old. Every bad thing is my fault,” he wrote.
Speaking on his parents’ relationship, the lawmaker noted that he had witnessed his mother’s unwavering support for his father through various stages of life and public service. He described her resilience and steadfastness as a source of strength for the family, particularly during challenging periods.
He said the anniversary offered an opportunity to celebrate the couple’s shared journey, the memories they have built together and the lives they have impacted over the years.
Mohammed concluded by praying for continued blessings, peace, good health and many more years of happiness for his parents as they continue their journey together.
