Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with a neurological disorder after collapsing on the pitch for the second time in three days.
The 23-year-old Germany international suffered the latest incident on Tuesday during Bayern’s pre-season friendly against Heidenheim, shortly after coming on as a late substitute.
Musiala appeared dazed as medical staff attended to him on the pitch before he was helped off. The incident came just days after he also collapsed during Bayern’s home victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Following the second collapse, Musiala addressed concerns about his condition in a social media post, explaining that doctors had diagnosed him with a neurological dysfunction that could trigger brief and temporary episodes.
“I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary episodes of absence that are easily treatable and are caused by a neurological dysfunction,” Musiala said.
He explained that the condition could cause the episodes witnessed during the matches against Leipzig and Heidenheim but sought to reassure supporters that he was receiving treatment.
“I know that they may seem scary at first glance, but for me, they are currently simply part of my everyday life,” he said.
The midfielder thanked fans for their messages and support, adding that he was receiving the best possible medical care and remained optimistic about his situation.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had earlier confirmed that the club was aware of Musiala’s condition and said the player would address the matter himself.
“Jamal will speak about this in the near future. We knew about it and we are aware of the situation,” Eberl said.
Musiala’s first collapse occurred against RB Leipzig in hot conditions in Munich, with temperatures rising above 30 degrees Celsius. He required medical attention before the latest incident renewed concerns over his health.
The midfielder had already endured a difficult period after missing the first six months of last season with a broken ankle suffered during the Club World Cup. He returned during the second half of the campaign and went on to represent Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
His latest revelation has now shifted attention away from Bayern’s pre-season preparations, with supporters awaiting further updates as Musiala continues treatment for the condition.
