The new Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, has announced an intelligence-led policing strategy aimed at tackling kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, cybercrime and oil-related offences across the state.
Speaking during his inaugural press briefing in Asaba, Erale said safeguarding lives and property would remain the Command’s top priority. He outlined six focus areas for his administration, including discipline, community policing, stronger collaboration with security agencies, aggressive crime-fighting measures, public trust restoration and a review of existing security strategies.
The police chief pledged strict adherence to professionalism, respect for human rights and zero tolerance for corruption and extortion within the force. He also promised recognition for officers who demonstrate exceptional integrity and performance.
Erale said the Command would strengthen engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, women organisations and religious institutions to improve intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
He further disclosed plans to adopt technology-driven policing methods and proactive security measures, urging residents to support law enforcement by providing timely information on criminal activities.
