Mohamed Salah Handed Six-Month Driving Ban Over Speeding Case

Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months after being convicted in connection with a speeding incident involving his Rolls-Royce in Cheshire.

The Trabzonspor forward was also ordered to pay a total of £1,044 after failing to provide information about who was driving his vehicle when it was caught exceeding the speed limit.

According to The Sun, Salah’s electric Rolls-Royce Spectre was recorded travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in March.

Although the original speeding charge was subsequently withdrawn, the 34-year-old was convicted for failing to identify the person behind the wheel.

Salah was fined £660 and ordered to pay £120 in court costs, alongside a £264 victim surcharge. The court also imposed the six-month driving disqualification.

The incident reportedly occurred two days after Salah announced his departure from Liverpool, bringing an end to his long association with the Premier League club.

It is the second known speeding-related punishment involving the Egyptian. In 2022, he was fined £200 and received three penalty points after being caught speeding while driving a Ferrari.

Despite the legal setback, Salah’s performances on the pitch have continued to attract attention since his move to Turkey.

The former Liverpool forward recently delivered one of his most impressive displays for Trabzonspor, scoring three goals and providing an assist in a 4-0 victory over Galatasaray.

The hat-trick also saw Salah set a new Trabzonspor record in the fixture. He became the first player in the club’s history to score three times against Galatasaray, surpassing the previous record associated with former Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme.

Salah’s latest driving ban means he will be unable to drive for the next six months, but his form in Turkey has ensured that his name remains prominent in football headlines.

The Egyptian’s immediate focus will now be on continuing his performances for Trabzonspor while serving the driving disqualification imposed by the court.
