Popular Nigerian content creator and activist, Debo Adebayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has opened up about a difficult period of financial hardship, revealing how the support of friends and well-wishers helped him overcome one of the toughest moments of his life.
In a post shared on X, the comedian said he became emotional after receiving messages from people whose lives he had impacted over the years. According to him, the messages reminded him of the support he received when he found himself in desperate need of help.
Mr Macaroni explained that he has always been more comfortable giving than receiving and often struggled to ask others for assistance, even during challenging times.
“I am used to always giving and hardly ever receiving because everyone thought I had in abundance,” he wrote, adding that the past few years tested him in ways he never anticipated.
The actor disclosed that his financial difficulties became so severe that he had to borrow money and seek help from different sources. At one point, he said he was close to giving up before a benefactor stepped in to clear all his debts.
Although he declined to reveal the identity of the individual, he described the support as extraordinary and life-changing, noting that the assistance came repeatedly when he needed it most.
Mr Macaroni also expressed gratitude to members of his close circle, particularly music executive Don Jazzy, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji, for standing by him during the difficult period.
According to him, Don Jazzy has supported him consistently since his university days, while others in his inner circle provided encouragement and assistance when he felt overwhelmed.
Despite the challenges he experienced, the comedian said he does not regret helping others and remains committed to positively impacting lives.
He added that the experience taught him valuable lessons about life, resilience and the importance of accepting help when necessary.
