Reality TV star Phyna has defeated actress Nkechi Blessing in a dramatic celebrity boxing contest, stopping her opponent in the fourth round during the early hours of Friday.
The fight served as the headline attraction of the “Chaos in the Ring” event after weeks of heated exchanges between the two entertainers had generated considerable attention online.
Their rivalry intensified during the promotional campaign, with Phyna and Nkechi Blessing reportedly exchanging insults before their confrontation at a press event turned physical. Organisers were forced to intervene and separate the pair.
The event itself was not without controversy. A separate confrontation involving Carter Efe and Speed Darlington reportedly ended with a birthday cake being kicked to the ground, while firecrackers linked to Carter Efe’s entourage briefly caused a fire at the venue before it was put out.
Once Phyna and Nkechi Blessing entered the ring, however, the attention shifted to the fight.
Phyna, who was smaller and slimmer than her opponent, immediately relied on her movement and speed. She moved around the ring, landing quick punches while attempting to prevent Blessing from settling into a rhythm.
Blessing responded in the second round by taking the fight to Phyna. The actress moved forward aggressively, resulting in a frantic exchange in which both fighters threw multiple punches.
The third round produced a more cautious contest, with neither celebrity able to establish a decisive advantage. Both continued to trade punches, but the bout remained finely balanced heading into the final round.
That changed in the fourth.
Phyna and Blessing exchanged a series of rapid punches as the fight entered its decisive stage. Phyna eventually landed the telling blow, sending Blessing to the canvas.
The actress was unable to rise before the referee completed the count, handing Phyna a fourth-round knockout victory.
Phyna was subsequently presented with the championship belt, while one of the event’s promoters added to her celebrations by rewarding her with a brand-new car.
During her post-fight interview, Phyna revealed that the knockout had followed a deliberate plan. She said she intended to “gas out” Blessing before looking for an opportunity to finish the contest.
Having secured the victory, Phyna wasted little time looking for her next challenge.
She called out actress Etinosa immediately after the fight, challenging her to another celebrity boxing contest. Etinosa entered the ring and accepted, potentially setting up another bout between two entertainers who share Edo roots.
The proposed matchup has already been framed as a clash between “two Edo girls,” adding another storyline to the growing celebrity boxing scene.
