Tinubu Says New Army Bases Will Improve Security Response Across States

President Bola Tinubu has said the activation of new Nigerian Army formations in several states will enhance the military’s operational effectiveness and improve response times to security threats across the country.

The President stated that the newly operational formations located in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun states are designed to bring military personnel closer to communities facing security challenges and ensure quicker intervention when threats arise.

According to Tinubu, the move forms part of his administration’s broader strategy to strengthen national security and improve the capacity of the Armed Forces to protect lives and property.

He explained that positioning troops closer to vulnerable communities would enable the military to respond more rapidly and decisively to incidents of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of criminal activity.

The President also disclosed that the Federal Government is investing in military infrastructure through the construction of new barracks and logistics facilities across different parts of the country. Ongoing projects are located in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi states, while similar facilities in Osun have already been completed.

Tinubu noted that improving accommodation and welfare facilities for military personnel remains essential, especially as security agencies continue to shoulder significant responsibilities in safeguarding the country.

The President further highlighted the recent salary increment approved for members of the Armed Forces, saying the initiative was already making a positive impact on the lives of officers, soldiers and their families.

He stressed that military service often requires sacrifices not only from personnel but also from their loved ones, who endure long separations and uncertainties associated with deployments.

According to him, supporting military families is an important aspect of ensuring a motivated and effective fighting force.

Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment as Commander-in-Chief to providing the Armed Forces with the resources, equipment and institutional support needed to carry out their duties effectively.

The latest measures come amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to tackle insecurity in different regions of the country through increased military deployments, recruitment drives, improved welfare packages and investment in defence infrastructure.
