Abejide Pledges ₦500m for Youth Empowerment in Yagba

The Leke Abejide Support Group (LASG) has welcomed a ₦500 million pledge by its Grand Patron, Hon. Leke Abejide, for a youth empowerment programme targeting young people across Yagba land in Kogi State.

Abejide announced the proposed initiative during a welcome rally organised in his honour by the chairmen of Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro Local Government Areas. The rally, held in Isanlu, drew supporters, political leaders and stakeholders from different political parties.

In a statement issued by LASG Chairman of Media and Publicity, Bashorun MD Eseyin, on behalf of the group’s Director General, Dr. Yomi Charles, and its members, the organisationdescribed the pledge as evidence of Abejide’s commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents beyond party politics.

The group said the initiative underscored the importance of youth empowerment to sustainable development, economic independence and improved livelihoods across the three local government areas.

LASG also praised Abejide for what it described as his continued contributions to the development of Yagba land, arguing that leadership should be measured by tangible efforts to improve people’s lives rather than political affiliations.

The organisation expressed hope that the proposed programme would expand opportunities for young people, encourage self-reliance and support the area’s broader socioeconomic development.

Abejide, who holds the traditional title of Asiwaju of Yagba Land, was welcomed by thousands of supporters and community stakeholders at the rally, according to the statement.

LASG reaffirmed its commitment to publicising the lawmaker’s representation, achievements and development initiatives, while calling for unity and constructive engagement across YagbaWest, Yagba East and Mopamuro.

Details on the implementation of the ₦500 million programme, including its funding arrangements, eligibility criteria, timeline and the number of prospective beneficiaries, were not provided in the statement.
