Anambra State Government says it will soon start the crack down on roadside locksmiths as a way of checking quackery and boosting security in the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Security Matters, Chief Ken Emeakayi stated this in Awka, Anambra state capital while delivering a lecture during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Professional Locksmith Association of Anambra State where he commended members of the association for all they do to fight insecurity especially car theft using what they called magic key.
Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Mr Chike Ezenduka, Chief Emeakayi said that government will partner the association in order to curb car theft and burglary even as he charged members of the association to be strict in doing their job as they would not hesitate to apprehend anyone aiding or abetting crime in the state.
In a keynote speech, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr, Nnanna Oji Ama represented by the Divisional Police Officer, Central Police Station Awka, Mr Victor Ibeagha described Locksmiths as serious partners in promoting security adding that their job is critical to the development of the state in terms of security of lives and property of the citizens as he advised them to practice by the rules and shun any act capable of bringing disrepute to the association.
The Chairman of the association, Mr Kenechukwu Chikezie expressed delight that they have come this far because according to him, their job is to fix all cars that have disorganised keys to ensure that no master or magic key can unlock them, while Chief Azubuike Umunna from Akokwa who donated money to the growth of the organisation, charged them to keep their eyes on the ball in the fight against quackery and insecurity.
