The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the results of its 2026 national elections, with Mr Badejo emerging as President-elect and Mr Okusanya securing victory as General Secretary.
The results were released on Monday in Abuja by the NBA Electoral Committee following the conclusion of the association’s nationwide voting process.
According to the committee, the elections were keenly contested across various positions, attracting participation from legal practitioners across the country.
Badejo’s victory positions him to lead the association at a time when legal practitioners continue to advocate for judicial reforms, improved welfare for lawyers and stronger protection of the rule of law.
In his acceptance remarks, the President-elect pledged to uphold the integrity of the legal profession, advance the interests of members and strengthen the NBA’s contribution to national development.
He also promised to work closely with stakeholders within and outside the legal community to address challenges facing the profession.
Okusanya, who emerged as General Secretary, was among several candidates elected into key national offices during the exercise.
Other successful candidates included committee chairmen, regional representatives and officers responsible for various administrative functions within the association.
Observers and stakeholders described the election as peaceful, transparent and reflective of the democratic values upheld by the legal profession.
The newly elected officials are expected to assume office during the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference later this year, where the formal handover ceremony will take place.
The NBA remains one of the country’s most influential professional bodies, playing a significant role in legal advocacy, judicial reform and the promotion of democratic governance.
