BREAKING: INEC Admits Wike’s Aide, Lere Olayinka Had Access to Its CVR, Explained How

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has admitted that Lere Olayinka, a media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, obtained access to its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Olayinka posted on X on Saturday, accusing actor Emeka Ike of registering in Imo State and transferring his registration details to the FCT on May 15.

This post was accompanied by two screenshots obtained from the CVR.

Following the post, Nigerians reacted and demanded that the commission and security agencies probe Olayinka’s access.

On Tuesday, INEC claimed via a statement signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, that the aide did not have direct access but that he obtained the information via people who had such access.

This admission suggests that Olayinka has unrestricted access to voters’ information and the INEC’s portal through unnamed insiders.
