Skilled foreign professionals eyeing job opportunities in Canada now have a clearer target list, after the country identified eight companies participating in its Global Hypergrowth Project whose eligible foreign hires can access LMIA-exempt work permits through the Innovation Stream, a pilot programme designed to help fast-growing Canadian companies bring in specialized international talent more easily. The pilot has also been extended, with the program now set to run through March 22, 2028.
Toronto-based Ada Support tops the list, developing AI agents and automation tools that help businesses manage customer service across chat, messaging, and voice channels. The company operates fully remotely and offers a benefits package that includes stock options, health and lifestyle spending accounts, parental leave top-ups, unlimited vacation, and a dedicated home-office budget. Open roles at the time included customer solutions consultant, senior demand generation manager, and senior cloud security engineer, among others.
AlayaCare, headquartered in Montreal, brings cloud-based software to organisations delivering home and community healthcare, with active vacancies split between Toronto and Montreal spanning customer success, product management, and AI and automation specialist roles, backed by flexible vacation and career development support.
On the medical technology side, Vancouver-based Clarius Mobile Health develops wireless handheld ultrasound scanners and AI-enabled imaging tools, with most of its current openings, including manufacturing and sales roles, based in Vancouver and supported by flexible work arrangements and professional development funding.
Legal technology company Clio, headquartered in Vancouver with additional hubs in Toronto and Calgary, rounds out one of the more benefit-rich listings, offering equity for eligible employees, RRSP matching, at least four weeks of paid time off, and comprehensive health coverage, alongside openings in sales, customer success, and product management.
Montreal-based Lightspeed Commerce, which builds point-of-sale and payment technology for retail and hospitality businesses, listed a mix of AI, marketing, and product design roles, supported by benefits including equity options, pension contributions, and paid volunteer time.
The remaining three companies show more limited hiring activity at present. CellCarta, a Montreal-based biomarker and laboratory testing firm, had only internship opportunities listed rather than regular positions. Vive Crop Protection, an agricultural technology company based in Mississauga, Ontario, had exclusively US-based vacancies posted on its site. And Duchesnay Pharmaceutical Group, a Quebec-based pharmaceutical company focused on women’s health and rare diseases, was not actively hiring at the time of publication.
For Nigerian professionals and other international candidates considering the Innovation Stream route, the current snapshot suggests the strongest near-term opportunities lie with Ada Support, AlayaCare, Clarius Mobile Health, Clio, and Lightspeed Commerce, given their active hiring across multiple roles, while the remaining three companies may be worth monitoring for future openings.
