Chelsea have strengthened their attacking ranks with the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with the 23-year-old committing his future to Stamford Bridge until 2033.
The Premier League club confirmed the transfer on Tuesday, marking another significant addition to head coach Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season. Rogers joins Chelsea after emerging as one of the league’s most highly rated young forwards during his time at Villa.
Reacting to the move, the England international described the transfer as the fulfilment of a long-held ambition and expressed enthusiasm about the club’s direction under its new manager.
“I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid,” Rogers said after completing the deal.
He added that the opportunity to work under Alonso and alongside Chelsea’s growing pool of talent played a major role in his decision to make the switch.
“I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”
Rogers arrives in West London following an impressive spell at Aston Villa, where he established himself as a key figure in the club’s attack. Over 85 Premier League appearances, the forward contributed to 40 league goals through a combination of goals and assists, underlining his growing influence in the final third.
His development coincided with one of Villa’s most successful periods in recent years. The club secured a top-four finish in the Premier League before going on to lift the UEFA Europa League trophy last season, with Rogers playing an important role in both campaigns.
Equally impressive has been his rapid rise on the international stage. Since making his senior debut for England in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular feature in the national team setup, earning 22 caps and representing the Three Lions at this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Chelsea’s decision to hand the forward an eight-year contract reflects both the club’s confidence in his long-term potential and its broader strategy of investing in young talent. Rogers’ versatility across the attacking line is expected to provide Alonso with additional tactical options as the Blues seek to build on recent progress.
For Chelsea, the signing represents more than just another addition to the squad. It is a statement of intent as the club continues its rebuilding process under Alonso, with Rogers expected to play a central role in shaping the team’s future.
