Dangote Industries Limited has launched a whistleblower programme aimed at curbing the illegal use of its trucks, offering a cash reward of ₦500,000 to members of the public who provide information that leads to the arrest of offenders or the recovery of unauthorized goods.
The company said the initiative is part of efforts to protect its logistics network from abuse by individuals using Dangote-branded vehicles for commercial activities outside approved operations.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the conglomerate urged Nigerians to report suspicious haulage activities involving its trucks, stressing that vehicles belonging to its subsidiaries are permitted to transport only designated products.
According to the company, trucks operated by Dangote Cement are authorized to carry cement, limestone, clinker, coal and high-grade gypsum. Vehicles belonging to Dangote Sugar Refinery are restricted to sugar products, while trucks under NASCON Allied Industries are approved only for the transportation of Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products.
The company further explained that Dangote Packaging trucks are meant to haul bags and other packaging materials, while those operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are designated for polypropylene products. Trucks belonging to Dangote Fertiliser Limited are permitted to transport only urea fertilizer.
Dangote warned that any of its trucks found carrying unauthorized cargo would be regarded as engaging in illegal haulage, adding that drivers and owners of such goods could face arrest, confiscation of their products and prosecution under existing laws.
To support enforcement efforts, the company encouraged whistleblowers to provide detailed information when filing reports. Relevant details include the truck’s registration number, cab number, colour, location and the nature of the goods being transported. The company also advised informants to provide photographs where possible to aid investigations.
As part of the campaign, dedicated hotlines have been established across several operational centres, including the Obajana, Okpella and Gboko plants, to enable members of the public to report suspected violations.
Dangote disclosed that law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been empowered to arrest any driver using company trucks for unauthorized commercial purposes.
Reaffirming its commitment to tackling logistics-related fraud, the company described public cooperation as essential to preserving the integrity of its transportation network and ensuring compliance across its operations.
According to the statement, the whistleblower initiative is intended not only to protect company assets but also to strengthen transparency and accountability within Dangote’s nationwide logistics system.
The company added that information provided by members of the public would contribute to ongoing efforts to safeguard the Dangote brand, promote lawful business practices and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
