Dangote Refinery Share Offer Opens New Investment Window for Retail Investors

Retail investors across Nigeria are being presented with a fresh opportunity to participate in one of Africa’s largest industrial projects as the public offer for shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE gathers momentum.

The offer, which opened on September 14, 2026, is expected to broaden ownership of the refinery while providing individuals with easier access to the capital market through digital investment platforms.

Under the offer, 4.1 billion ordinary shares are being made available to investors at N525 per share. If fully subscribed, the exercise is projected to raise approximately N2.15 trillion, making it one of the most significant public offers in Nigeria’s recent capital market history.

Investment platform i-invest, powered by Parthian, has announced that investors can participate in the offer through its digital application, eliminating many of the traditional barriers associated with share subscriptions.

According to information released by the platform, eligible investors are required to complete account registration and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, including the submission of their Bank Verification Number (BVN). Participants must also possess a Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) account, which serves as the official repository for electronically held shares.

One of the notable features of the public offer is its relatively low entry threshold for retail investors. The minimum subscription has been fixed at 10 shares, translating to an investment of N5,250. Additional subscriptions are to be made in multiples of 10 shares.

The development reflects the increasing digitisation of Nigeria’s investment landscape, where technology-driven platforms are enabling wider participation in capital market activities. Analysts say such platforms have contributed to improving accessibility for younger investors and individuals outside major financial centres.

While the offer presents an opportunity to acquire equity in a major refining and petrochemical operation, prospective investors have been advised to carefully review the company’s prospectus and other offer documents before making investment decisions.

Market experts also caution that, like all equity investments, share prices may fluctuate after listing, and dividend payments are dependent on company performance and future board decisions.

The public offer is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026. Stakeholders believe the exercise could mark another milestone in efforts to deepen retail participation in Nigeria’s capital market while expanding public ownership in large-scale industrial
