Dubai has strengthened its reputation as a global technology hub after being named the world’s second-leading intelligent city in a new international assessment.
The ranking reflects the emirate’s growing use of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and smart technologies to transform public services and urban life.
The assessment, reported by TV BRICS, a NAN partner, examined 61 cities across 39 countries. It evaluated how effectively cities use AI and other digital technologies to improve government services, boost economic competitiveness and enhance the quality of life of residents.
Dubai recorded the highest global score for AI adoption and smart city implementation, highlighting the extent to which emerging technologies have been incorporated into its government operations, infrastructure and digital platforms.
Rather than simply investing in advanced technology, the assessment focused on how effectively cities turn those investments into practical outcomes for citizens and businesses.
Five major areas were considered in the evaluation: strategic planning, technology adoption, operational capability, digital infrastructure and measurable results.
According to analysts, cities that integrate AI directly into essential public services tend to achieve greater improvements in efficiency, innovation and resident satisfaction. Dubai’s performance therefore reflects not only its technological capacity but also its ability to apply those technologies across different areas of urban management.
The emirate’s achievement has been attributed to years of investment in digital infrastructure and data-driven governance, alongside efforts to incorporate emerging technologies into public administration.
Artificial intelligence has increasingly become a key part of Dubai’s broader strategy to modernise government operations, improve service delivery and establish the city as an international centre for innovation.
The assessment also highlighted a wider trend among leading intelligent cities. According to the findings, cities with a broader range of practical AI applications tend to record greater public confidence in the technology. That confidence is also associated with increased everyday use of digital services.
Dubai’s latest ranking consequently adds to its growing profile as one of the world’s most digitally advanced urban centres.
With continued investment in artificial intelligence and smart infrastructure, the emirate is expected to further expand the use of technology in urban management, public services and economic development, reinforcing its ambitions to remain at the forefront of global digital transformation.
