Dr. Nosakhare Liberty Arodoye’s leadership at Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, has taken on an added academic dimension, following his promotion to Associate Professor of Economics by the Senate of the University of Benin, a recognition that has drawn enthusiastic praise from across the Polytechnic community in Benin City.
What set the promotion apart, according to those familiar with the process, was the unanimity behind it. Dr. Arodoye reportedly received the highest possible distinction from all three external assessors who reviewed his academic record, a rare outcome viewed within the institution as a decisive validation of his scholarly output and standing.
For colleagues at the Polytechnic, the elevation felt less like a surprise and more like overdue confirmation of work already underway. Dr. John Amawu, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Management, framed the promotion as evidence that UNIBEN’s Senate shared the same confidence in Arodoye’s credentials that his own institution had held for some time. He described the acting rector as someone whose research focus and drive for innovation have visibly reshaped the Polytechnic since he took office, particularly through digitalisation efforts and broader institutional reform. “Arodoye is a man of many strengths who has consistently pursued academic excellence. He understands what it takes to succeed in the academic environment, and since assuming office at Edo State Polytechnic, he has continued to reposition the institution for greater achievements through innovation and technology-driven initiatives,” Amawu said.
