FUAZ-ASUU Embarks on Two-Week Warning Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru branch, has commenced a two-week warning strike over the non-implementation of agreements reached with the Federal Government.

The industrial action began after the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued by the union to the university’s governing council.

Confirming the development, the branch chairman, Comrade Danbauchi Ishaq Sanchi, said the decision followed the failure of the university authorities to address issues contained in the 2025 FGN-ASUU agreement.

According to the union, no meaningful response or concrete action was received from the governing council despite repeated engagements.

ASUU stated that all academic activities have been suspended for the duration of the strike, including lectures, examinations, project supervision and meetings of academic bodies within the institution.

The union expressed regret over the inconvenience the action may cause students and other stakeholders but insisted that the strike became necessary to draw attention to unresolved welfare and administrative concerns.

It called on the university management and relevant authorities to urgently address the outstanding issues to enable a quick resolution and the suspension of the industrial action.
