Reports have indicated that no fewer than seven persons were killed and ten others injured by terrorists on Sunday in Gwon-Ajang village, Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulder Association (BYMA), Mr Rwang Tengwong, the terrorists, who have been on the prowl in the local government area, struck again at about 9:30 p.m. when most residents were preparing to go to bed.
The statement also stated that the ten injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Barkin Ladi.
A source close to the village further told the Nigerian Tribune that the gunmen, who invaded the community in large numbers, also destroyed properties, including farms, before fleeing.
The source added that the affected village and neighbouring communities have been deserted for fear of further attacks.
A community leader in the local government area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that most residents of rural communities in the council area are living in fear and can no longer access their farms.
The community leader, who lamented that the government has abandoned them, called on the military and the Federal Government, in particular, to give the insecurity in the local government area and other parts of the state the attention it deserves.
Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, proved abortive.
