IGP Disu Visits NAF Headquarters, Offers Condolences Over Ondo Aircraft Crash

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has expressed condolences to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), its leadership and the families of those who died in the NAF 931 aircraft crash in Ondo State.

Disu conveyed the message during a visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force, where he met with Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and extended his sympathy to officers and personnel affected by the incident.

The visit was an expression of solidarity from the Nigeria Police Force at a difficult time for the Air Force and the families mourning the deceased crew members and passengers.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, the police chief offered condolences to the Air Force leadership and the bereaved families, acknowledging the loss suffered by colleagues and loved ones of those who died in the crash.

Disu also expressed sympathy for personnel dealing with the loss of their colleagues, while offering prayers for strength and comfort for the families as they cope with their bereavement.

The statement said the Nigeria Police Force remained in solidarity with the Nigerian Air Force during the period of mourning. It added that the police recognised the service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives.

The visit highlights the relationship between Nigeria’s security institutions, particularly at times when one of the country’s military services experiences a major loss. Expressions of support from other agencies can provide reassurance to affected personnel and families as they navigate the aftermath of such incidents.

The crash involving the NAF 931 aircraft in Ondo State resulted in the deaths of crew members and passengers, according to the information provided in the statement. However, details concerning the circumstances of the crash, its cause and any investigation findings were not included in the available account.

Disu’s message focused on condolences and institutional solidarity rather than operational details surrounding the incident.

For the families of the deceased, the loss represents a deeply personal tragedy, while the Air Force must also contend with the impact on colleagues and personnel who served alongside those killed.

The Nigeria Police Force’s visit reaffirmed its support for the NAF leadership and the bereaved families, with the police chief extending prayers for comfort to those affected by the tragedy.
