Kwara APC Governorship Candidate Danladi Prioritises Security, Empowerment and Welfare Ahead of 2027

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, Saliu Yakubu Danladi, has identified security, citizen empowerment and social welfare as the three priorities he intends to pursue during the first year of his administration if elected in 2027.

Danladi, who is the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, outlined the proposed agenda during an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Monday.

He said creating a secure environment would be essential to achieving development, arguing that instability could undermine efforts to improve living standards and attract investment.

“Without peace, it is difficult to bring development to the state,” he said.

The APC candidate stated that his proposed administration would build on the achievements of the incumbent governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, while addressing areas he believes require further attention.

On citizen empowerment, Danladi said the state’s development depended partly on the ability of residents to participate productively in economic activities. He maintained that efforts to improve livelihoods should form a central part of government policy.

His third priority, social welfare, would focus on people-oriented initiatives in sectors such as education, healthcare and agriculture. He described these areas as important to improving residents’ well-being and supporting the state’s wider development objectives.

Danladi also outlined plans to attract more investors and encourage industrialisation, with the intention of reducing Kwara’s dependence on civil-service employment as a major source of economic activity.

He said the state had begun to experience a shift under the current administration and pledged to build on that direction by promoting investment in agriculture and other productive sectors.

The candidate’s proposed approach links security with economic development, suggesting that a more stable environment would help create conditions for businesses to operate and for residents to pursue economic opportunities.

Danladi also referred to his experience leading the state legislature as part of his argument for his readiness to govern. He became Speaker at the age of 33 and has led the 24-member House of Assembly for more than seven years.

He described his leadership of the legislature as evidence of his capacity to manage public institutions and work with other political actors.

However, the three-point agenda remains a set of campaign commitments ahead of the 2027 election. Its eventual implementation would depend on the outcome of the election, the administration’s policy decisions, available resources and the performance of relevant government institutions.

Danladi’s priorities place public safety, economic participation and social services at the centre of his proposed first-year programme for Kwara State.
