Leeds Thrash Newcastle 4-1 in Dominant Premier League Display

Leeds United delivered a commanding performance on Monday, sweeping aside Newcastle United 4-1 in a Premier League clash that saw the hosts establish a four-goal advantage before the visitors managed a late consolation.

Newcastle struggled to cope with Leeds’ attacking intensity from the opening stages, and the pressure eventually produced two goals in quick succession before half-time.

Lewis Miley was the unfortunate source of the opening goal in the 32nd minute when the Newcastle midfielder turned the ball into his own net.

Leeds doubled their advantage just two minutes later, with Jayden Bogle rising to head the ball beyond goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek and put the hosts firmly in control.

Newcastle failed to stem the flow, and Leeds added a third goal in stoppage time at the end of the first half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin finished calmly after Tarik Muharemovic played him through, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb after the break.

Any hopes of a Newcastle recovery were effectively ended 14 minutes into the second half when Noah Okafor struck for Leeds. The forward connected with the ball first time and saw his effort go in off the right post to make it 4-0.

Newcastle continued to search for a response but struggled to turn their possession and attacking attempts into goals. Their closest opportunity before the late consolation came in the 72nd minute, when Joe Willock’s effort struck the crossbar.

The visitors eventually found the net in the final minute of normal time. Substitute BazoumanaToure’s effort from inside the box took a deflection before beating Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford to reduce the deficit to three goals.

By then, however, the outcome was beyond doubt, with Leeds having already established complete control of the contest.

The victory was secured in front of 36,693 spectators and capped an emphatic night for Leeds, who consistently threatened Newcastle and converted their dominance into four goals.

For Newcastle, the defeat highlighted a difficult evening in which they were unable to match the hosts’ attacking pressure or find a meaningful route back into the match.

Toure’s late effort offered little consolation as Leeds comfortably completed a 4-1 victory.
