The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of an alleged international drug trafficker, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” in a major operation that disrupted a transnational cocaine trafficking network.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), disclosed the development while briefing journalists in Lagos, describing the operation as one of the agency’s most significant investigations in recent years.
According to Marwa, the operation began after the interception of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine concealed in a consignment being processed through a courier logistics company in Lagos. The shipment was reportedly destined for the United Kingdom and had an estimated street value of about N39 billion.
Following the seizure, the NDLEA established a Special Investigation Team to identify all individuals connected to the shipment and dismantle the broader trafficking network.
Investigations led to the arrest of two suspects. One of them, Lawal Mujab Kehinde, was identified as an employee of the logistics company allegedly used to facilitate the movement of the illicit consignment.
The second suspect, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” was allegedly operating under the guise of a luxury goods dealer and social media influencer. Investigators believe he coordinated the Nigerian arm of the trafficking network, which allegedly moved cocaine from South America through Nigeria to markets in Europe and Asia.
Marwa said the suspect was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the departure terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to board a business-class flight to Paris.
Items recovered from him at the time of arrest reportedly included €7,750, £2,800 and N100,000 in cash, alongside expensive jewellery. A subsequent search of his residence on Banana Island, Ikoyi, led to the recovery of several luxury vehicles.
The NDLEA chairman warned that the agency would continue to target individuals who use wealth, social influence and luxury lifestyles as cover for criminal activities.
He reiterated the agency’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks and preventing Nigeria from being used as a transit point for the international narcotics trade.
