TRÏNŪ Bonded Warehouse, a subsidiary of Sirlyon Limited, has commissioned a customs-controlled bonded warehouse in Kuje, Abuja, in a move aimed at bringing cargo storage and clearance services closer to importers and businesses in the Federal Capital Territory and Northern Nigeria.
The facility is designed to provide an inland option for handling imported cargo that would otherwise be processed through seaports and logistics centres in Lagos and other commercial hubs. By establishing a customs-controlled facility in Abuja, the company aims to make cargo handling more accessible to businesses whose final markets are located in the capital and surrounding northern states.
Bilal Ajijola, chief executive officer of TRÏNŪ Bonded Warehouse, said the company intended to develop the facility into more than a storage location.
“Our ambition is to build more than a warehouse,” Ajijola said. “We want TRÏNŪ to become an important inland gateway for trade into Abuja and Northern Nigeria, connecting businesses to global markets while making the movement of goods more efficient, secure and accessible.”
The company said the warehouse would serve importers, exporters, freight forwarders and clearing agents by providing a location where cargo can be stored, processed and cleared closer to the businesses and markets it is intended to serve.
The arrangement could offer businesses an alternative to handling every stage of cargo movement through coastal ports or distant logistics centres. For companies operating in Abuja and Northern Nigeria, an inland facility may reduce the need for repeated journeys to locations far from their final delivery destinations.
Ajijola said the warehouse was established in response to the logistical challenges businesses face when their goods are processed far from where they are ultimately needed.
“TRÏNŪ was built around a simple observation: businesses shouldn’t have to keep moving back and forth to where their cargo isn’t ultimately going,” he said. “By creating a secure, customs-controlled facility in Abuja, we’re bringing more of that process closer to where the goods are actually needed.”
Bonded warehouses operate within customs oversight, allowing eligible imported goods to be stored under the applicable customs procedures before duties are paid or the goods are released for onward movement. Such facilities can form part of a wider logistics network by providing storage and processing options beyond the main seaports.
The commissioning of the Kuje facility introduces another cargo-handling option for businesses serving Abuja and the northern market. Its intended contribution will depend on how effectively the warehouse integrates with customs processes, freight operators and existing transport networks.
For TRÏNŪ, the project represents an effort to establish an inland trade gateway that brings cargo services closer to their intended customers and supports the movement of goods into the region.
