Nigeria Grants Rwandan Citizens 30-Day Visa-Free Entry in Bilateral Deal

Nigeria has approved a 30-day visa exemption for citizens of Rwanda, removing a key travel barrier between the two nations in a move officials say will deepen bilateral ties and stimulate economic and diplomatic engagement.

Under the new policy, Rwandan nationals may now enter Nigeria without a visa and remain in the country for up to 30 days, a development that is expected to ease business travel, boost tourism, and encourage closer people-to-people exchanges between both countries.

The decision aligns with Nigeria’s broader continental agenda of fostering freer movement across Africa, in support of the African Union’s long-standing vision for seamless mobility among member states. Officials described the exemption as part of a wider push to strengthen economic, political, and cultural cooperation with fellow African nations.

The announcement has been welcomed as a positive signal for regional integration, with analysts noting that improved travel access between Nigeria — Africa’s most populous nation — and Rwanda, widely regarded as one of the continent’s most progressive economies, could unlock significant opportunities in trade, investment, and diplomacy.
