Ododo Hails Tinubu’s Massive Security Investments in Kogi, Inspects 21 Battalion Barracks

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has commended President Bola Tinubu for massive security investments across the country, saying they have significantly improved safety in Kogi State.

Ododo made the remark on Tuesday during an inspection visit to the newly established 21 Battalion Barracks in Anyigba. He described the facility as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to supporting sub-national governments in the fight against insecurity. The governor noted a drastic reduction in kidnapping, armed robbery and communal conflicts in Kogi East since the deployment of the military formation. He declared that Kogi is no longer a safe haven for criminals. “Criminals now know that Kogi State is not a fertile land for them. There is no market for criminality in our state,” Ododo stated.

He praised the gallant officers and men for their sacrifices and assured them of continued state government support. The governor also revealed that President Tinubu has approved air support for security operations whenever needed. The inspection underscores ongoing collaboration between the federal and state governments to strengthen security infrastructure nationwide.

Governor Ododo’s assessment reflects the positive impact of federal security interventions in Kogi, a strategic state that serves as a major transit route between the North and South. The establishment of the 21 Battalion has enhanced rapid response capabilities and boosted the confidence of residents and investors. Security experts note that such investments, combined with state-level initiatives, are essential for addressing the complex security challenges in Nigeria’s middle belt region.

The governor’s visit and commendation highlight the importance of synergy between federal and state authorities in tackling insecurity. As Kogi continues to experience relative calm, stakeholders hope the momentum will be sustained through community engagement and intelligence-led operations. The development also serves as a model for other states seeking to leverage federal support for local security needs.
