Olowu of Kuta Sends Warm Wishes to Olowu of Owu Abeokuta on Coronation Anniversary

A message of goodwill has passed between two Yoruba monarchs, as the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Hameed Makama Oyelude, Tegbosun III, extended his congratulations to the Olowu of Owu Abeokuta, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Olúyálọ̀ Ọ̀tílẹ́ta VII, on the occasion marking his coronation anniversary.

In his message, Oba Oyelude framed the milestone as more than a ceremonial date, describing it instead as a reflection of divine grace paired with genuinely notable leadership since Oba Matemilola ascended the throne. He pointed specifically to the Owu Abeokuta monarch’s sustained focus on peace, unity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development, crediting that record with earning the reign wide admiration well beyond the borders of Nigeria itself.

Looking ahead, Oba Oyelude offered prayers for continued strength and guidance in the years to come, expressing hope that “Almighty God would grant the Olowu of Owu Abeokuta many more years in good health, divine wisdom and renewed strength to continue providing purposeful leadership for the people of Owu Abeokuta and contributing meaningfully to national development.”

Beyond the individual well-wishes, the message carried a broader tone of solidarity among traditional rulers. Oba Oyelude wished his counterpart “a joyous coronation celebration” while reaffirming what he described as the enduring bond of brotherhood shared among monarchs committed to preserving Yoruba cultural heritage, promoting peaceful coexistence, and driving development within their respective domains.

He closed by voicing confidence that Oba Matemilola’s reign would continue delivering peace, progress, and prosperity for Owu Abeokuta, adding that the example being set could serve as a lasting source of inspiration for future generations of traditional leadership.
