Osimhen Breaks Silence on Transfer Rumours After Chelle’s Galatasaray Exit Comment

On Sunday night, the Galatasaray and Super Eagles striker took to Instagram to ask the football world to disregard transfer speculation triggered by his own national team coach.

The fire started when Eric Chelle, explaining Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Poland and Portugal, offered this: “We miss two players because Victor Osimhen maybe he is about to change clubs, so I prefer he stays at home because if he plays and is not at 100 percent is not good.”

Osimhen moved quickly to contain the fallout. He said he had called Chelle directly, that his words had been taken out of context and blown out of proportion, and that the coach has great respect for Galatasaray and never intended to create controversy.

It looks like Galatasaray also have plans to retain the star striker for the next season

Galatasaray put together a layered financial setup to handle the striker’s wages, mixing club payments with commercial support. Of Osimhen’s €21 million yearly salary, Galatasaray covers €15 million directly. The other €6 million will come from sponsorship deals linked to his image rights.

Those sponsorships are being locked in through three separate advertising contracts for the 2026–2027 season. That way the commercial part of his pay is secured without adding pressure to the club’s main budget.

Galatasaray also wrapped up the final €75 million transfer fee installments back in March. With that debt cleared, the club’s finances are in a stronger spot as it looks to keep the striker.
