Qatar Sends Delegation to Tehran as Efforts to Revive US-Iran Talks Continue

A Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran for discussions with Iranian officials as diplomatic efforts intensify to revive peace negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, reported on Friday that the delegation was led by a senior adviser to Qatar’s Prime Minister and would discuss bilateral relations and developments in the region with Iranian officials.

The visit comes amid growing concerns about a possible resumption of hostilities in the Middle East conflict, which has continued for eight months.

It also follows reports by Iranian media that Tehran had received a letter from US Vice President JD Vance addressed to security chief Mohsen Rezaei.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the correspondence focused on a possible framework for negotiations rather than specific terms of a peace agreement.

Qatar and Pakistan have been facilitating diplomatic efforts to restart negotiations following a ceasefire agreement reached in April.

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran was discussing a proposed plan with both countries to end the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has maintained that the United States must meet seven conditions before the strategic waterway can be reopened.

Among its demands are a ceasefire across the Middle East, the unfreezing of Iranian assets held abroad, the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector and an end to the US naval blockade.

The latest diplomatic engagements come as regional and international stakeholders seek to prevent further escalation and secure a lasting resolution to the conflict.
