The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the judge’s release, stating that he had safely returned home to the joy of his family, colleagues and residents of the state.
A family member, who spoke on the development, expressed gratitude to God for preserving the judge’s life throughout the ordeal. According to the relative, the family remained hopeful during the period of captivity and relied heavily on prayers and support from well-wishers.
“He was just released and has returned home now after spending one week with the bandits,” the family member said.
The relative added that the family was overwhelmed with relief and thanksgiving following the judge’s return. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, the state government and residents who offered support during the difficult period.
According to the family, messages of encouragement, prayers and expressions of solidarity from members of the public helped them cope with the uncertainty surrounding the abduction.
“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, the Kebbi State Government, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways. Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity,” the source stated.
Although details surrounding the circumstances of the judge’s release have not yet been disclosed, a source close to the family said more information would be made available at a later date.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the security challenges confronting parts of Kebbi State and the wider North-West region, where cases of kidnapping and banditry have continued to pose threats to residents, travellers and public officials.
Security agencies have intensified operations aimed at combating criminal groups operating in vulnerable communities across the state. Authorities have repeatedly assured residents that efforts are ongoing to improve security and restore public confidence.
For now, family members and associates of the judge are celebrating his safe return while awaiting further details on the circumstances surrounding his release.
