Terrorism Has Reached My Doorstep – Pastor Enoch Adeboye Raises Alarm

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, declaring that terrorism and kidnapping, once confined to the North, have now spread to the South and reached his own doorstep.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., on June 23, Adeboye said: “Things have gone far, far worse than before. The terrorism, kidnapping, and so on that were in the north are now even at my doorstep. They have come all the way down to the South.” While defending President Bola Tinubu against accusations of inaction, Adeboye noted that the President has given necessary directives to the military. He urged Tinubu to issue a 90-day ultimatum to security chiefs to wipe out terrorism or resign, and to go after known sponsors — including politicians and businessmen — who supply arms and ammunition.

Adeboye called on the United States and international partners to support Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, describing the crisis as one that requires urgent, decisive action. His comments come amid continued insecurity across several regions, resonating with many Nigerians who feel the impact of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism in their daily lives.

The respected cleric’s remarks have sparked widespread discussions on the state of security in the country, with many agreeing that the threat has become national rather than regional. Pastor Adeboye’s call for stronger action from the government and international support highlights the urgency of addressing the root causes of insecurity, including poverty, unemployment, and weak governance in affected areas. His intervention is expected to add moral weight to ongoing calls for improved security measures and accountability from security chiefs.
