Tinubu Warns Terror Financiers: “You Will Be Held Accountable”

President Bola Tinubu has issued a strong warning to individuals and groups financing terrorism and banditry in Nigeria, declaring that they will be identified, tracked, and made to face justice.

The President issued the warning during his Democracy Day national broadcast, describing terror financiers as enemies of the state who threaten national stability and citizen safety. He reaffirmed that security agencies have been directed to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal financing networks. “They will be identified and made to pay dearly for their actions,” Tinubu warned, stressing that no individual or group undermining national security would be spared.

Nigeria continues to grapple with terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across several regions, with growing concern over the financial networks sustaining such operations. Security analysts argue that targeting financiers is as critical as confronting armed groups on the ground. However, challenges remain in intelligence gathering, prosecution, and international cooperation on tracking illicit financial flows.

The federal government says it is strengthening inter-agency collaboration to improve intelligence sharing and disrupt funding channels. The warning is part of broader efforts to intensify counterterrorism operations nationwide.
