Toyin Abraham Denies Membership of Lagos APC Campaign Council

Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has publicly distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council after her name appeared on a list of members released by the party.

The actress clarified that she had no prior knowledge of the appointment and does not hold any position within the campaign structure.

Abraham made the clarification through a statement posted on her verified X account after reports circulated online listing her among members of the APC campaign council ahead of political activities in Lagos State.

Expressing surprise over the development, the actress stated that she woke up to discover that her name had been included in the list without her consent.

According to her, she is not interested in participating in partisan political activities and has no intention of serving on any campaign council.

“I’m not a member of any campaign council. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name,” she stated.

Her name reportedly appeared under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate alongside several figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, including veteran actor Jide Kosoko and actress Eniola Badmus.

The development quickly generated reactions on social media, with supporters and critics debating her reported involvement in the political structure.

Although Abraham publicly supported President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, she maintained in her latest statement that she was not consulted before her inclusion on the council list.

Her support for Tinubu during the 2023 campaign attracted significant attention and criticism from some social media users, while others defended her right to express her political views.

The actress’s latest clarification appears aimed at removing any ambiguity about her current political involvement and ensuring that the public does not mistakenly associate her with a role she says she never accepted.

The APC has yet to publicly respond to her statement or explain how her name came to be included in the campaign council list.
