Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Weapons in Yobe

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers and recovered weapons during a security operation in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The Acting Military Information Officer of Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.

According to Goni, troops of the 233 Battalion carried out the intelligence-led operation at Jegalari Village following credible information on the activities of suspected criminal elements in the area.

The operation led to the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition and four mobile phones believed to have been used in criminal activities.

Goni said the suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing further investigation to determine the extent of their involvement in kidnapping and other related crimes.

He reiterated the commitment of Operation Hadin Kai to denying terrorists and criminal groups freedom of operation across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations.

The military spokesman also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that community support remains vital in the fight against insecurity.
