Wema Bank has launched the seventh edition of its flagship innovation programme, Hackaholics, unveiling new opportunities for young entrepreneurs and technology innovators across Nigeria and Africa.
The initiative, which has grown into one of the country’s leading innovation platforms, is designed to identify, support and fund creative technology-driven solutions capable of addressing societal and economic challenges.
Announcing the programme in Lagos, the bank said Hackaholics 7.0, themed “Powering Possibilities,” will feature three participation tracks and seven innovation categories aimed at nurturing startups and emerging innovators.
Participants will be able to compete under the Startup Pitch Competition, Hackathon and the newly introduced Social Impact Track.
The programme will focus on sectors including financial inclusion, healthcare, education, sustainability, digital transformation, social impact and the future of work.
According to the bank, applications are open to young Nigerians with innovative ideas capable of creating meaningful change and driving economic growth.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering young people and strengthening Africa’s innovation ecosystem.
He explained that the programme has evolved significantly since its launch in 2019, providing support to thousands of startups and helping innovators transform ideas into viable solutions.
Following the application phase, Hackaholics 7.0 will embark on a nationwide tour covering ten pitch centres across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, giving participants an opportunity to showcase their innovations before advancing to the grand finale.
The bank noted that winners would receive grants, mentorship opportunities and exposure to investors capable of helping them scale their businesses.
Industry stakeholders have continued to highlight innovation and technology as critical drivers of economic diversification and job creation, making initiatives such as Hackaholics increasingly relevant in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
Applications for the programme are open through the designated Hackaholics portal.
