Yayi Boosts Ogun Schools With New Classrooms and 60-Computer ICT Hub

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has provided new educational facilities in two Ogun State schools, including a 12-classroom block at Iju Ebiye Secondary School and an Information and Communication Technology centre at Lisabi Grammar School in Abeokuta.

The projects are intended to improve school infrastructure and give students greater access to digital learning resources. Adeola is the Ogun State All Progressives Congress governorship candidate.

The newly constructed classroom block at Iju Ebiye Secondary School in Iju Town is a one-storey building containing 12 furnished classrooms. It also includes offices equipped for teaching and non-teaching staff.

At Lisabi Grammar School, the new ICT centre is fitted with 60 desktop computers, tables and chairs to support technology-based learning. The facility also includes two automated printers capable of scanning, printing and photocopying.

Additional equipment provided at the centre includes a 30KVA generator, a 15KVA solar inverter and air-conditioning units. The supporting utilities are intended to help the facility operate and provide students with a suitable environment for computer-based learning.

Adeola said investment in education was important for developing students’ knowledge and preparing young people for future academic and career opportunities. He maintained that learning environments should provide students with the facilities and skills needed to succeed.

“Education remains a critical investment in the future of our people and the development of Ogun State. Our responsibility is to support the creation of conducive learning environments where students can acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to succeed,” he said.

The projects combine improvements to conventional classroom infrastructure with investment in digital education. While the classroom block provides additional furnished teaching spaces, the ICT centre is designed to expand students’ exposure to computers and technology-supported learning.

Access to functioning equipment, reliable power and appropriate teaching support will be important in determining how effectively the new facilities serve students and teachers.

The projects form part of Adeola’s educational interventions across Ogun State, according to the information released about the developments. Details of the total cost of the projects, their commissioning dates and the arrangements for their long-term maintenance were not included in the supplied report.
