The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has outlined plans to make infrastructure development, economic policies and government performance the focus of its campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said it would highlight the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori alongside the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, while avoiding personal attacks against political opponents.
Chairman of the Delta APC Media and Publicity Committee, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed the strategy in Asaba while discussing the campaign council’s communication plans.
Aniagwu, who also serves as Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, said the party intended to present the administration’s record to voters and explain how government policies had affected development across the state.
According to him, the campaign would focus on projects and programmes addressing infrastructure needs, economic opportunities and public service delivery.
He maintained that Oborevwori would continue performing his official responsibilities while the campaign team communicated his administration’s achievements to residents.
“The governor’s desire is to continue to show his achievements. His report card is made up of results,” Aniagwu said.
He added that the campaign would seek to demonstrate how projects undertaken by the state government had responded to the needs of communities.
The APC spokesman also addressed the party’s approach to political competition, saying its campaign would prioritise policy discussions rather than personal criticism.
“We will stay with the issues. We will focus on projects that speak to the needs of our people,” he stated.
Aniagwu said opposition candidates would be treated respectfully, stressing that political disagreements should not prevent constructive engagement.
He acknowledged that competing parties would present alternative proposals but maintained that the APC would concentrate on explaining its own programmes.
Beyond the governor’s performance, the party plans to highlight what it describes as the benefits of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms.
Aniagwu argued that federal economic policies had increased the financial resources available to state and local governments, enabling them to undertake additional development initiatives.
He acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians but insisted that the Federal Government had introduced measures intended to improve conditions.
According to him, the campaign would explain how national economic decisions were translating into greater opportunities for development at the subnational level.
“The President’s policies have made more resources available to states and local governments to perform for the people,” he said.
These claims about the impact of federal policies formed part of the party’s stated campaign position.
Aniagwu further disclosed that the Delta APC campaign council would work to mobilise votes for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other candidates contesting on the party’s platform.
He expressed confidence that focusing on governance and development would strengthen the party’s electoral support.
The announcement sets out the issues the Delta APC intends to emphasise as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
